Although winter weather can be fun for some, these weather conditions are also associated with an increase in illness and injuries, particularly for those that are vulnerable to the effects of the cold. This includes older people, very young children, and people with serious medical conditions.
It is also important to remember that one in three people in Coventry and Warwickshire are eligible for a free NHS flu vaccination. Although flu is generally a mild illness, it can be very serious for some, and can even be fatal. There’s still time to get your free flu vaccine, to find out if you’re eligible visit: nhs.uk/conditions/vaccinations/pages/flu-influenza-vaccine.aspx
The flu vaccine changes every year to fight the latest strains of flu, so even if you had the vaccine last winter you need another one this year to stay flu safe. Simply contact your GP or a participating pharmacy to arrange a convenient appointment. It’s quick, safe and free for those most at risk from the virus. Find out more at warwickshire.gov.uk/flu
