Community Safety, General

Report from Clifton Neighbourhood Watch – October 2018

At the time of writing there have been no reported crimes during the last period.

The new speed restrictions are in place so please observe the 30 mph speed limit as you enter the village and the 20 mph zone within the village. Please note that the 20 mph zone includes North Road, South Road etc. and not just the main roads through Clifton. The Clifton Community Speed Watch team are now operating their vehicle speed monitoring around the village and registration numbers etc. will be forwarded to Warwickshire Police for the appropriate action to be taken. A summary of the checks will be published in these reports. It is expected that the Community Speed Watch Scheme in Clifton will have a significant effect on the speed of traffic through the village.

You can receive details of crimes in Clifton by joining the police Community Messaging Service. You will receive eMails from the police from time to time to make you aware of crimes in Clifton, details of local scams and fraudulent activity, crime prevention advice etc. To join this service go to; https://www.warwickshire.police.uk/cms

Please remember the MOBILE POLICE STATION is available for you in Lilbourne Rd from 11.00am to 12.00 noon on specific dates. The next one will be on Wednesday 14th November and notices will be placed on the village notice boards.

All households in the village are covered by Clifton NHW so there is no need to apply for membership. However, if you would like to know more or take an active part in Clifton NHW please contact Chairman David Glover on 01788 535574 djglover1951@gmail.com

News from Clifton Tennis Club

Some great results were given by team captains James Waghorn and Sue Robinson at the recent tennis club committee meeting; the men’s team finished 2nd in their league and the mixed team ended up 4th with only a couple of points between them and the second place team. Even greater things are expected for next year.

Clifton Tennis Club is a great asset for the village and anyone in the village can join, in fact 63% of existing members live in Clifton including the Chairman Rod Dolman, Treasurer Lesley Edwards, Secretary Steve Woodford and team captains James Waghorn and Sue Robinson.

The tennis club has a special offer at the moment with membership fees being slashed; Adult £22, Intermediate (16 to 21 year old) £10, Junior (under 16) £7, and Family (2 adults and their children up to 21 years of age) £40. If you are interested in joining the club please contact Steve Woodford on 01788 561996.

Residents Survey – Improving community facilities and services in Clifton upon Dunsmore.

The Parish Council is in the process of updating and reviewing its 5 year plan.  We would like to ensure that our priorities and proposed action plan reflect those of the residents in the parish of Clifton upon Dunsmore.

Please remember that whilst we do not have control over services supplied by the County and Borough Councils’ such as the Police, Schools, Highways and Social Services; the Parish Council can have some input into the delivery of these services, particularity when we have evidence (via consultation) of our residents views.

So, please could you help us start this process by completing the following survey, which we have kept as brief as we could in order to encourage as many people to complete it as possible – but we are eager to hear your comments too. The survey can be completed by clicking on this link . https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/BXNBFQJ

Thank you for taking the time to complete this survey. The results will be reported to the Parish Council and also published on its website. www.cliftonupondunsmore.org.uk
